Hi Readers, It’s finally the weekend!

Hopefully you can find time to sit down and read a great book and if you want to read a historical fiction, I have just the book for you to check out!

I absolutely loved Jody Hedlund’s latest book in the Bride Ships series, A Bride of Convenience and I can’t wait to show it to you! So without further ado, let me take you to British Columbia in the year 1863. Let’s go!

What did I think?

As I mentioned above, this is book 3 in the The Bride Ship Series, but it could be read as a standalone. So first, the cover is gorgeous and although I like the info on the back cover, I just don’t think it does the book justice (there is just no way to get the how awesome the story is just by reading the back cover). As soon as I read the part where Zoe stood up for her friend and then risked getting sick to take care of her, I knew that I was going to fall in love with the characters in the book. There were two things that I absolutely loved about the story. The first one was that although Zoe thought she couldn’t find love and was happy just being a bride of convenience, God had other plans for her and not only did he protect her from a horrible marriage, but he gave her a godly husband who would love and cherish her for who she was (it would take a little time, but he would get there).

The second thing was the end of the story, Oh the ending was so unbelievably perfect that I couldn’t put it down and I didn’t want the story to end!! (seriously, I had a huge smile on my face while reading the last few chapters, and my sister thought I was losing it). I’ve read the first and second book in this series, but this one was by far by FAVORITE in the series, Correction, this is my favorite book that Jody Hedlund has written so far. I absolutely recommend this book and cannot wait for the next book!! I give the book 5 out of 5 stars.

What Did I Think?

As I mentioned earlier, this is book two in the Coastal Guardian series, but it can be read as a standalone too (Although I recommend reading the first book, The Killing Tide because it’s awesome and because it gives you some of the back story on the characters). So first of all, I want to say that the cover is amazing and the story itself is just as awesome! I absolutely loved everything about this book and have so many highlights and bookmarks that I thought my Kindle was going to give me an error message every time I opened the book! Normally my favorite characters would be the main ones; however, in this book I loved all of them. There was so much going on throughout the story and each set of characters had their own unique challenges. Mason and Rissi were investigating an accident on an oil rig to determine if it was really an accident,and Emmy, Logan and Caleb were investigating the corporation that may have been responsible. Meanwhile, Noah was investigating who was threatening Brooke.

Although there is suspense threaded throughout the entire story, there is also a undertone of romance between several of the characters and moments where you see the way the team had become a family (which was another thing I loved). Overall, I loved the book and cannot wait until the third one – I just hope that it’s about Emmy and Logan. This book is another must read if you like romantic suspense and I rate the book 5 out of 5 stars!

What Did I Think?

So this book is part of the Love Inspired Suspense collection and I have to say it’s the best one I’ve ever read! It kept me engaged from the very first page and it was incredibly hard to put down. Occasionally, the Love Inspired Suspense books can be a bit predictable because of their small size (only about 224 pages), but this one wasn’t predictable at all – I don’t want to give any spoilers, but I’ll tell you that there’s so many twists in the story that at times you don’t know who is good and who isn’t.

The book starts out with Deputy Lawson (the main character) finding his ex-fiance Ashlee, (the other character) and realizing that she has amnesia. She has no recollection of who she is or why she’s in a car filled with bullet holes, all she knows that she feels safe when Lawson is around. Lawson has no idea why God has brought his ex-fiance back in his life, but he wonders if he’s been given a second chance. Throughout the story you see the two characters grow close to each other, but the shocking revelation at the end may ruin the relationship they thought they had.

Overall, I think this is a definite Must Read and I’m so excited that this is the beginning of a series!

I rate the book 5 out of 5 stars!!

When it becomes clear that someone wants her dead, Lawson steps in to act as her protector. But will digging into the mysteries of her past cost him the future he still longs to have with her?

What did I think?

So my favorite thing about the book had to have been the simple, yet easily forgotten message that even when you feel like God is not listening or you don’t get the answer you prayed for, God is ALWAYS there. listening to your every word, and He has a plan for us – even when we can’t see it. I really liked reading about Elise’s (the main character) spiritual journey , because you can tell at the beginning of the book, that she felt like God had abandoned her and He didn’t care about her and her son anymore. I also loved the support that Elise received from her sister – in – law, Mary Ellen. Here’s a quote that sums up what I liked about the book;

“She’d had a few days to come to terms with everything that happened and how it all worked out. God did always have a plan. Sawyer’s deafness had saved his life.”

There were also a couple of things that I didn’t like about the book, like that the FBI agents seemed incompetent and weren’t doing their job. Throughout the story, Elise and her family (and Wesson) were the ones who found any leads, the FBI just kind of stood around. The other thing I didn’t care for was that there is no romantic sub-plot. I guess I’m so used to always reading about a hero and a heroine who fall in love by the end of the book, that when it wasn’t there, I really missed it.

All that being said, I did enjoy the book (especially the end) and would recommend the book to anyone who likes to read suspense books, but doesn’t like the romantic aspects (like my brother and sister). I will also check out other books by this author (I just bought two on my Kindle)

Overall, I rated the book 3 out of 5 stars and I only gave it three stars because it “wasn’t my cup of tea”, but I would encourage you to read it and tell me what you think!

Hi, there. . .Robin here. I’m getting so excited for the release of my thirty-fourth novel, DEAD SILENCE. I have to say, I love this book. The heroine is strong, yet flawed. Her love for her son—willing to do anything to protect him is a mother’s instinct I relate to so well, having three daughters and two grandsons. The love of a mother for her child is so ingrained in me that I wanted to share that in a story.

I’ve been asked why I opted for a heroine who is an ASL translator and who has a deaf son. Many years ago, I became friends with someone who is deaf. She shared with me some of her frustrations, but also how her way of life is in comparison to mine. It got me to thinking that being deaf could be thought of as a disability but could also be used as an advantage…it was all in how you looked at it. My friend shared many stories of how she “eavesdropped” by reading lips and learned much about people and how they reacted to issues, enough that it led her into her career field today—a counselor, specializing in providing therapy for the hearing impaired as they live in a hearing world. I hope that I portrayed my characters in this positive light.

While I’m a Louisiana girl at heart, I reside in Little Rock, the capitol city for Arkansas. Since Bill and Hilary Clinton lived here and claimed it home before Bill was President, we have many political plans and posturing here. I saw it as a perfect backdrop for this particular story with the political undercurrents running rampant throughout the story.

I hope that you enjoy reading DEAD SILENCE as much as I enjoyed writing it.

What did I think…

As I mentioned before, I’ve been waiting for this book for months! And it definitely didn’t disappoint. The plot starts on the very first page and is intertwined with a bit of suspense, romance, betrayal and humor. I love how the main character Dr. Josephine Burkett, is very independent and is making a life for herself by doing something that typically (at that time) only men did and it was awesome to read how she overcame several obstacles in her life to get there. One of my FAVORITE parts of the story was at the very beginning when Matthew Hanger (the other main character) met Dr. Jo for the very first time and I thoroughly enjoyed reading about their interactions throughout the book. Just so you can get an idea of the story, here’s a quote from right after Dr. Jo met Matthew.

“Josephine swallowed. The prospect of having a dictatorial military type under foot should annoy her. So why did the twisting in her belly fell less like annoyance and more like anticipation?

Another thing that I liked was that the characters are so relatable! Especially Dr. Jo and Matthew. Both of them thought that they could never find love because of their job and they were OK with it, but of course God had different plans for them. Overall, I loved the entire book and can’t think of a single thing that I didn’t like about it, except that it had an end (LOL). At least book 2 should be coming out soon! I rate this book 5 out of 5 stars and would give it more, but I ran out of stars! 🙂

Hi Readers!

Hope you guys have had a wonderful week! It’s been busy in my house this week because my dad finally (after 7 years) got a kidney transplant!! (Praise the Lord!!) So I haven’t had much time to read, but all of the books that I’ve been wanting to read keep going on sale, so I keep adding to my never-ending TBR pile – which I may never finish — but that’s ok. It just means I’ll never be bored
